How do babies make sense of a world filled with overwhelming sights, sounds, and information? From their earliest months, babies begin developing the ability to focus by choosing where to direct their gaze, how quickly to shift their attention, and how long to stay engaged. At Tulane University, researchers in the Learning and Brain Development Lab study how selective attention helps infants filter information and begin understanding their environment.
