Chef Edgar “Dook” Chase IV, grandson of New Orleans’ Creole cuisine legend Leah Chase, and his wife, Gretchen, opened Chapter IV, a restaurant in the new Thirteen15 building on Tulane’s downtown campus. The restaurant offers breakfast, lunch and Sunday brunch. The Thirteen15 building, located on Gravier Street, is the current site of the Tulane Innovation Institute and home to apartments designed for members of the Tulane community.

Michael Cunningham, associate provost for graduate studies and research, a Suzanne and Stephen Weiss Presidential Fellow and professor in the Department of Psychology, has joined the President’s Cabinet to ensure that the needs, opportunities and contributions of post­graduate students are represented at the highest level of university leadership.

Tulane is a recipient of the 2022 Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award, which recognizes U.S. colleges and universities that demonstrate an outstanding commitment to diversity and inclusion. The national award is given annually by INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine, the oldest and largest diversity-focused publication in higher education.

Shawn Abbott is Tulane’s new vice president for enrollment management and dean of admission. He came to the university from Temple University in Philadelphia, where he was vice provost for admissions, financial aid and enrollment management. He has also held leadership roles at NYU, Stanford and Columbia.
